About the project
Since 2009, we have been helping plan adventures
The idea for the wirtualneszlaki.pl project emerged around 2007, based on the author's personal experiences. At the time, planning cycling trips was challenging as information about existing routes and trails was scattered across websites of municipalities, counties, and tourist information centers. Initially, the goal of the project was to collect this information and create the most comprehensive database of marked tourist and cycling trails. Materials provided by partners were supplemented with descriptions, photos, and GPS data from the author's trips.
Over time, the most complete database of tourist routes in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship was created. The wirtualneszlaki.pl service provided a convenient search engine but initially lacked the ability to combine multiple trails to form continuous routes. This led to the need and idea for an interactive trail map, which was launched at this address. Initially, the map provided data only for the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, but in recent years it has expanded to cover all of Poland.
The Wirtualne Szlaki project also includes a blog available at szlakiprzygody.pl, covering topics related to equipment, attractions, regions, and other aspects that do not fit within the trail search engine wirtualneszlaki.pl. Every month, all services operating within the project are visited by approximately 21,000 unique users.
From the very beginning, the project has also maintained a presence on social media:
- Instagram (approx. 10,000 followers)
- Facebook (approx. 6,000 followers)
- Twitter (approx. 2,000 followers)
